VOLUNTEERING: JOURNEY SMALL GROUPS MINISTRY

Our Small Groups Ministry at Journey Church is the heartbeat of our community. Leaders like you play a crucial role in creating spaces where individuals can connect deeply, grow spiritually, and support one another through life's journey. Whether you're leading a Bible study, a support group, or a fellowship group, your dedication and passion are shaping lives and building lasting relationships. Journey Small group Volunteer Roles

There are two avenues under the umbrella of the small groups ministry in which we'd love to have you volunteer. These include:

  • Purpose of Position (Your WIN)– The purpose of the Small Group Host is to open up your home and create a welcoming atmosphere for attendees.


     

    Time Commitment – Approximately 8 sessions twice a year

    • Fall Session – 8 weeks before Thanksgiving
    • Winter Session – 8 weeks before Easter
    • (Dates and times established by Host & Facilitator)


    Length of Commitment – 8 weeks in the Fall and/or Winter

     

    Description – The Small Group Host will be responsible for creating a welcoming environment in their home to host a small group.

     

    Expectations

    • Collaborate with the small group facilitator to ensure all needs are met
    • Get to know all the small group attendees
    • Take attendance for each small group session
    • Follow up with attendees that were absent from a session
    • Serving refreshments are optional
    • Read through the small group training brochure

     

    Skills Needed – 

    • A welcoming personality
    • A hospitable spirit
    • Ability to laugh and have fun
  • Purpose of Position (Your WIN) – The purpose of the Small Group Facilitator is to present curriculum to help the attendees grow in their walk with Jesus Christ.

     

    Time Commitment – Approximately 8 sessions twice a year

    • Fall Session – 8 weeks before Thanksgiving

    • (Dates and times established by Host & Facilitator)

    Description – The Small Group Facilitator will be responsible for choosing the curriculum and presenting the material at each small group session. Facilitators are successful when they are personally growing in their intimacy with Jesus and learning more about Him. Facilitators are supported by the pastoral and the leadership teams at the Journey.

     

    Expectations

    • Have a personal relationship with Jesus
    • Select curriculum that is Bible-based and appropriate for the small group
    • Have the curriculum approved before the sessions start
    • Prayerfully prepare for each small group session
    • Follow up with all attendees to see how they are enjoying the sessions
    • Read through the small group training brochure.

     

    Skills Needed – 

    • Knowledge of the Bible
    • Present study material in a way that participants can understand
    • Ability to laugh and have fun
